Kathryn Jean Jackson, 94

Kathryn Jean Jackson, 94, of Greencastle passed away July 21, 2017 at her home near Morton.

Born October 20, 1922 in Sullivan, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Aud “Auddie” Price and Lydia (Robbins) Price.

Jean grew up on her family’s grain farm in Sullivan. She was the youngest of six children. She graduated from high school in Sullivan and went to business school to become a stenographer. In 1941, she met Paul Eugene Jackson on a blind date in Carlisle, Indiana. They were married sixty years at the time of Paul’s death in 2003. Jean’s life work was homemaking. She was an avid gardener and loved arranging the flowers she grew.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Auddie and Lydia; her husband, Paul; her son, John; and her siblings, Mel, Carl, Ruby, Opal, and Helen.

Jean is survived by her sons, Bill (Nancy) Jackson of Marshall, Missouri, and Jim Jackson of Russellville; daughter, Ellen Jackson of Avon; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind life-long friends, Hester Shultz, who introduced her to Paul; and Phyllis Ballentine. She also leaves behind her devoted caregiver of many years, Brenda Ivy.

Funeral Services will be held at 11a.m., Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Union Chapel Church 5998 West US HWY 36, Greencastle, Indiana 46135 with Pastor John O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow at Union Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receives visitors 9-11 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral service.
