Soil & Water Conservation To Hold Pond Field Day

Putnam County Soil and Water Conservation District will be sponsoring a Pond Field Day on Monday, April 18th, from 12:30 until 4:00 p.m. The hosts for this field day are Ron and Carol Smith located at 4846 E. County Road 50 S. Fillmore, Indiana 46128.

Ponds once served a utilitarian purpose as a source of water for farm livestock. While this practice has changed as other watering systems have become more readily available ponds popularity as recreational areas for families has grown. Who doesn’t enjoy the sound of water, the sight of wildlife water brings and the fun of fishing or other recreational activities water provides. Bring a lawn chair and join us on April 18 to learn more about your existing pond, pond planning or dream pond.

This free workshop will cover all topics related to ponds, from planning and construction, to management and safety. Registration is not required; however, the event will be cancelled if the weather is inclement. Please contact the Putnam County Soil and Water Conservation District at 765-653-7454 if you are unsure the event will be held before 11 a.m. on April 18th.
