High Water Closes Portion Of S.R. 42 Near County Line

As all eyes remain focused on the muddy flood waters of White River here in Spencer, the staff at the Cagles Mill Lake flood control reporting station also continue to monitor the drain-off areas northeast of Owen County.

According to a late afternoon report Thursday from the Cagles Mill Lake staff, the lake had reached a water level of 691.14 feet, about 52 feet above the normal summer pool level of 639.50 feet.

As shown in the accompanying photos, the lake’s current level has forced a complete closure of State Road 42 north of Cunot at the Doe Creek bridge near the Owen-Putnam county line. (Staff Photos by Travis Curry)
