CHS, OVHS Represented In Wabash Valley Football Coaches All-Star Contest

Kick-Off Is 7:30 P.M. In ISU Memorial Stadium On Saturday, June 25

Several area high school football seniors from the class of 2011 will hit the gridiron inside Indiana State University’s Memorial Stadium to take part in the Wabash Valley Football Coaches Association All-Star game on Saturday, June 25.

Pitting North against South, the South All-Stars, under the direction of Linton Stockton head coach Steve Weber, will feature a pair of Cloverdale Clovers and four Owen Valley Patriots.

Cloverdale linebackers Josh Burdette and Matt Hall will represent the Clovers one last time, while Patriot wide receiver Gryfen Brinson, offensive lineman Gus Hancock, linebacker Dylen Hutcherson and lineman Clayton Freeman with represent Owen Valley.

The seventh annual contest will kick-off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, however, ISU head coach Trent Miles will serve as a keynote speaker during an awards banquet inside the Hulman Center on Friday evening, June 24, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Gus Hancock Gus Hancock The players will also receive a portion of more than $25,000 in scholarships from the WVFCA.

Hancock, a 6’3”, 270-pound lineman recorded 58 tackles, four sacks and eight tackles for loss in his senior campaign to earn Defensive Player of the Year honors by the Herald- Times. Hancock was also named one of the country’s top 50 linemen to watch by ESPN Magazine. Hancock was named First Team All- WIC, First Team Indiana Football Coaches Association All-State. His efforts earned him a spot at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Before being sidelined with an injury late in the regular season, Brinson posted seven solo tackles, three assist tackles, one tackle for loss, seven interceptions, four batted passes, and one defensive score.

Finishing in the top ten in the state in interceptions, Brinson was selected First Team All-Western Indiana Conference, in addition to being recognized as a First Team All-Area Defensive Back by the Bloomington Herald Times, First Team All-Wabash Valley Defensive Back, and an Honorable Mention All-State Defensive Back by the Associated Press.

Dylen Hutcherson Dylen Hutcherson Freeman, a 6’0”, 300-pound lineman, tallied 61 tackles, six sacks, 12 tackles for loss, two forced turnovers, three fumble recoveries and was credited for making 84 percent of his blocks in 11 games played for the Patriots this season.

Freeman was selected to the First Team All- WIC, First Team All-Area (Herald-Times), and to the Second Team All-Wabash Valley as an offensive lineman.

A 5’9”, 230-pound offensive lineman and linebacker, Hutcherson posted 111 tackles, three sacks, 13 tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries, while also rushing for a total of 197 yards and two touchdowns in 2010.

Clayton Freeman Clayton Freeman Hutcherson was named First Team All-WIC, First Team All-Area (Herald- Times), and received an Honorable Mention on the All-Wabash Valley Team.
