(Staff Photo) Area personnel from the Gosport, Cataract and Cloverdale Township volunteer fire departments were dispatched to a structure fire at 879 Honey Locust Lane, off of Locust Lake Road, just after 9:30 p.m. on June 8.

Once on scene, firemen observed flames coming from roof air vents on the west side of the modular home. The home was occupied by Eric L. Harvey, who said the fire originated in the kitchen area of the home. He and the family’s pets escaped the home unharmed. Harvey signed a signature of release with the Owen County Emergency Medical Service.

While the structure suffered significant fire, smoke and water damage from the incident, the home was not a total loss for the family.

In the meantime, the Monroe County Chapter of the American Red Cross has provided temporary shelter for the couple at Summer House Inn in Bloomington.
