Alice Mildred Cooksey, 97

Alice Mildred Cooksey Alice Mildred Cooksey Alice Mildred Cooksey, 97, Cloverdale, went to meet her Lord and Savior on June 16, 2011, at the Mill Pond Health Campus in Greencastle.

Her life’s journey began on January 5, 1914 in Owen County and was the last of nine children of John and Norma [Drake] Sheese.

She married Rolla B. Cooksey on June 22, 1933. Rolla and Mildred left Owen County, moving to Martinsville, then to Putnam County, where she lived until her passing.

To this marriage they had four children, Carolyn [Arthur] Scott, Cloverdale, LeRoy [Glennis] Cooksey, Mooresville, Arlene [Sonny] Ooley, Spencer, and Rhonda [Hank] Stinson, Fillmore.

She was a member of the Amity Baptist Church and Fidelity Bible Class for over 50 years.

She was a homemaker. She had many varied interests being cooking, gardening and reading.

Mildred is survived by her four children; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; and eleven step great-great-grandchildren. Mildred loved and was dearly loved by several nieces, nephews; and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband on July 24, 1971; her parents; her sisters, Myrtle Lutz, Edna Williams, Olna Welty, Pauline Sims; her brothers, Emory, Ray Herschel, and Paul Sheese; and a brother in infancy.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Tim Tesmer officiating and assisted by Rev. Sonny Ooley and Rev. Kevin Ooley.

Interment will be in the Cloverdale Cemetery.
