Rev. Myron K. Welty, 72

Rev. Myron K. Welty, 72, of Poland, passed away quietly at his home, Thursday, September 8, 2011.

He was born in Owen County on October 20, 1938 to Harve and Minnie (Coble) Welty. He retired from IBM in Greencastle, in 1987. He also had been a pastor at Manhattan Baptist Church, Full Gospel Church, Jordan Presbyterian Church, and Patricksburg Methodist Church. Myron was a member of the Bowling Green Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite, in Terre Haute, where he served as the chaplain.

Rev. Welty is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn (Hoffa) Welty; son, Keith Welty, of Cloverdale; daughters, Tami (Steve) Linamen, of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, Marsha (Troy) Arnold, of Fillmore and Mindy (Doug) Cheatham, of Summerton, South Carolina; brother, Jack Minnick of Kentucky; sisters, Ellen Harris, of Indianapolis, Colleen Harris, of Lafayette and Ethel Urlich, of Michigan; and eight grandchildren, soon to be nine.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Rex Minnick, Wilbur Welty, Wayne Welty, and Kenneth Welty.

Funeral and Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2011 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Rev. Steve Linamen and Rev. John Pierce will officiate. Friends may call on Monday from 6-8 p.m.
