Cloverdale FFA’s Mann & Arnold Advance To National Competition

(Courtesy Photo) During the 82nd Indiana FFA State Convention in June, Cameron Mann and Katie Arnold from the Cloverdale FFA chapter won their state leadership contest allowing them to advance in competition at the National FFA Convention in October.

Cameron competed in Extemporaneous Public Speaking. She drew an agricultural related topic and had thirty minutes to write and prepare a four to six minute speech and then present it to a group of judges. After winning the state contest, she is currently preparing for the national contest where she will have an opportunity to compete against FFA members from across the nation.

Katie will be competing in the National FFA Science Fair. She also won her state contest in June. Her science fair project is in the zoology division, where she studied how different types of music affect fish activity.

The Cloverdale FFA chapter was well represented at the State FFA Convention held at Purdue University. In addition to the two state winners, Katie Arnold also competed in Multimedia Scrapbook, Cameron Mann competed in Prepared Public speaking, and Sam Jordan and Alex Bartlett competed in Agricultural Mechanics Demonstration. Cameron Mann was elected the District VII President. The Hoosier Degree recipients were: Katie Arnold, Cameron Mann and Sam McHugh. Kyleigh Mitchell received sixth place in the Living to Serve Community Initiative grant sponsored by Monsanto, and won $500 for the chapter. Cloverdale FFA was also among the chapters receiving the Superior Chapter Award.
