John H. butcher John H. butcher John H. Butcher, 87, of Xenia, Ohio, formerly of Gosport, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at the Greenwood Manor Nursing Home in Xenia. He was born in Bloomington, Indiana, on March 1, 1924 to Daniel and Leafa (Pate) Butcher.

He was a WW II Army Corporal Veteran who served in Europe, where he received a Bronze Star.

John retired from General Motors, Allison Transmission Plant in Indianapolis. Prior to that, he was a stone cutter at the Ramona Stone Quarry. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church on North 231 in Owen County.

John is survived by his sons, Zane Allen (Brenda) Butcher of Xenia, Gary Wayne Butcher of Bloomington and Kenneth Paul (Mary) Blaker of Jamestown, Indiana; brothers, Daniel Butcher of Ellettsville and Eugene Hause of Spencer; sisters, Margaret Bryant of Indianapolis and Dorothy Wilson of Anderson; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen J. (Smith) Butcher; brothers, Samuel Butcher and Kenneth Butcher; and sisters, Mary Morrow and Agnes Bixler.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 31, 2011, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Gary Butcher officiatee.

Burial followed at Hudson Hill Cemetery.
