These two vivacious young ladies were 23-yearold Brandy and 21-yearold Ashley Nelsey of West Branch, Michigan. The sisters were making their way from their home in Michigan to Houston, Texas on a 3,000-plus mile mission trip of sorts to raise money to provide water wells in poverty-stricken Haiti.

Brandy and Ashley began their trip on September 11 and plan to finish up around May of 2012, a seven-month-long journey. This journey for the pair is to raise funds to provide much-needed clean water in Haiti at the cost of $5,000 per well. The girls hope to earn enough money to provide three wells, helping 2,000-plus people per well. According to Brandy, in the world we live in today, a child dies every 20 second due to a lack of clean drinking water.

This past Wednesday evening, the girls were taking a day off to rest at the JW Jones Stables off of State Road 67 before heading toward Spencer on Thursday. They planned to stay somewhere along U.S. 231 between Spencer and Freedom on Thursday before making their way south toward Worthington and onward toward Bloomfield.
