OCHGS To Welcome Local Postal Historian

The Owen County Historical and Genealogical Society (OCHGS) will host its monthly public meeting on Monday, November 21, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Owen County Public Library. Following a brief business meeting will be a comprehensive program on the postal history of Owen County. This program will be presented by postal historian and Owen County resident, Vincent Ross, past president of the Indiana Postal History Society.

Mr. Ross has recently published a new book entitled “The Postal History of Owen County.” The book covers all forty-five post offices that were in Owen County at one time, including listing of postmasters, all known postal maps from the 1800s, a county map showing the post office locations, as well as some cancellations and pictures of post office buildings. The OCHGS will have this book available for sale.
