Scholarships Available Through Owen Community Foundation

OCCF Report

Your Owen County Community Foundation announces that scholarship applications are available for students to continue their education.

“These scholarships have a unique focus on persons living in Owen County who are currently enrolled as college students, as well as those who might be starting school later in life or returning to finish a degree they started earlier,” OCCF’s Marilyn Hart said.

The following scholarships will be awarded in May, 2012 for continuing education: Judy Hamilton Educational Scholarship

As an editor and business woman, Judy Hamilton created her scholarship out of a strong commitment to pass back the value of education to students living in Owen County. The Judy Hamilton Educational Scholarship is available only to persons residing in Owen County upon their graduation from a two-year college program and entry into an Indiana state university for a four-year degree. Kappa Kappa Kappa (Tri Kappa) Continuing Education Scholarship

The local Alpha Delta Chapter of Tri Kappa supports this scholarship dedicated to women who are returning to college to pursue a degree. Women must live in Owen County, be age 25 or older, and return to college to work toward a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree, and enroll for a minimum of 6 credit hours. Margaret Marley Pinkston Scholarship

Margaret Marley Pinkston founded her scholarship with hopes of helping Owen County residents further their education. Mrs. Pinkston graduated from Gosport High School in 1934 and received her degree from Indiana University in 1939. The Margaret Marley Pinkston Scholarship is available to Owen County residents who are continuing in or returning to undergraduate studies for a four-year degree. Roma Wilson Scholarship

The Roma Wilson Scholarship was created by the Wilson family to honor their mother, a long-time educator in Owen County. This scholarship is open to Owen County residents who are adults, and the scholarship award may be used toward a two-year or four-year degree, technical or vocational degree program, or GED preparation courses. OCCF’s “General Application Form” covers these scholarships and is available on-line at HYPERLINK “http://www.owencountycf.org” www.owencountycf.org. The form may be requested via an email to info@owencountycf.org or picked up at the OCCF office on the second floor of the Owen County State Bank at 201 West Morgan in Spencer.

The Owen County Community Foundation is committed to helping our communities become better places to live, grow, and work.
