Wiley Truesdel, 75

Wiley Truesdel, 75, of Gosport, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011, in Tampa, Florida.

Wiley was born August 12, 1936, in rural Owen County, the eldest son of Tom and Genevieve (Hensley) Truesdel.

He graduated from Gosport High School in 1954. After graduation he served in the Air Force National Guard. Wiley worked for IBM, in Greencastle, for 32 years, retiring in 1988. He served Owen County for 16 years as a County Commissioner. He currently served on the Taylor Township Advisory Board; was a co-founder of the Solid Waste Management; and a strong supporter of the EMS.

Wiley was a member of the Millgrove Methodist Church, serving as a trustee. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #92, serving as Master for many years.

He married Marilyn Hunsicker in 1980.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter.

Wiley is survived by his wife, Marilyn Truesdel; a son, Jay (Loretta) Truesdel; stepchildren, Bill (Darla) Thomas, Jerry (Colette) Thomas, Tony (Gail) Thomas, Brenda (Larry) Culver, Mitzi Hardwick; grandchildren, Amanda Thomas, Kara (Kevin) Minnick, Katelyn Thomas, Hilary Thomas, Dustin Thomas, Kristen Thomas, Kyflin (Cody) Leitzman, Logan Oakley, Alisha Hardwick, Vince Wright, Abigail Truesdel, and Curt Money; three great grandchildren; and a brother, Bob Truesdel.

Funeral services were held at Chandler Funeral Home- Whitaker Chapel on Monday, January 2, 2012, with Pastor Mark Pogue officiating. Burial followed at Gosport Cemetery.
