Owen County SWCD To Host 65th Annual Banquet On January 28th

Tickets Are $7 Each; Event To Be Held At Christian Life Center
by William Peterson District Coordinator, Owen County SWCD

The Owen County Soil and Water Conservation District announces plans for the 65th Annual Banquet Meeting of the SWCD. This community gathering will celebrate conservation accomplishments of the past year with a look back on 2011. The event will begin with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 28 at the Spencer Christian Church Life Center, located at 157 South Montgomery Street. A delicious meal will be catered by local favorite, Lois Bixler.

Tickets are $7 each and must be purchased in advance by January 26 in order to insure adequate food and seating. Tickets can be obtained from SWCD Board members Matt Bixler, Paul Cummings, Greg Davies, Ken Sebastian and Steve Worland. Tickets are also available at the Owen SWCD Office, located at 2534 State Road 46E, or by calling 829-2605.

Highlighting the activities for the evening will be an acknowledgement of the 4-H Soil and Water Conservation Project Grand Champion. In addition, the board will discuss new members to be appointed this next year. There will also be an opportunity to thank those board members who are leaving for their service.

The SWCD is pleased to offer very special entertainment for the night. Entertainment will be provided by the Sounds of Indiana Chorus. The chorus is a “barbershop” style group based out of Bloomington. The chorus provides family friendly entertainment and believes in supporting the community through their ability to entertain.

In addition to the above mentioned activities, several fantastic door prizes generously donated by local businesses will be awarded throughout the evening. Owen SWCD invites the community to get to know what we do a little better by attending our banquet. For more information, contact our office at 829-2605. The SWCD wishes to thank everyone for their continued support of this event and all of our programs throughout the year.
