Area Cabin Naming Contest Provided Unique Opportunity For Local Woman

The Retreat Campus Report

Sarah and Bill Harrison Sarah and Bill Harrison The Retreat Campus near Quincy held a Cabin Naming Contest that ended February 24th. Many entries were contributed and among them was the name Trinity, submitted by Sarah and Bill Harrison. The Retreat Campus staff was unaware of who submitted the entries when voting. They soon found out that Sarah had grown up on The Retreat Campus grounds until she was a teenager, which makes for an incredible story.

When notifications were sent to the two winners, Bill immediately responded by saying, “What an honor, my wife grew up there.” This was an affirmation that God was indeed involved in the Cabin Naming Contest!

Sarah was born in 1948 at the Greencastle Hospital. Her parents, Tom and Marie Quinette, had just finished a four-room house for her arrival. The house sat just off of McFarren Road. Tom was a farmer and also drove a school bus for Cloverdale Community Schools. Marie was a housewife and helped with anything Tom needed. Both of them were active members of the Quincy Baptist Church.

Sarah attended Quincy Elementary and then went on to Cloverdale High School, where she graduated.

After graduation Sarah moved to Terre Haute for a few years before coming back to her roots. She and her husband Bill have been married for 32 years and have five beautiful children between them. Bill retired after serving in law enforcement for a number of years and Sarah is a longtime employee of the Spencer Evening World and World Arts, Inc. They make their home a short distance south of the Owen-Greene county line.

In 2010 Sarah and Bill attended the Owen County After Hours, hosted by The Retreat Campus. That was Sarah’s first time back on the property. When asked what she remembered about that evening she said, “I was amazed at what had been done to the property, it was just beautiful! My parents would be so happy.”
