Betty J. Meek Betty J. Meek Betty J. Meek, 76, of Cataract, passed away suddenly, Thursday, March 8, 2012 at IU-Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Stinesville on October 29, 1935 to Frank and Ophelia (Clark) Ellett. Betty was a 1953 graduate of Stinesville High School. She was wonderful wife, loving mother and grandmother, her family was her life. She was a servant of Jesus, always taking care of others when they were sick and in need of care or food. Betty was a member of the Stinesville Church of the Nazarene, Gideon’s Auxiliary, Owen County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, Cataract Garden Club and an active member of the Cataract Bean Dinner Festival committee. She was an avid flower gardener and well known for baked goods and jellies.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Don Meek; sons, Phillip (Amy) Meek and David Meek all of Cataract; daughters, Jackie (Tim) Reynolds of Salem, Virginia, Susan (Mark) Whittington of Vallonia, and Julie (Rex) Vescovi of Bloomington; brother, John (Marilyn) Ellett of Ft. Wayne; sister, Ann (Jim) Eads of Spencer; grandchildren; Jacob, Jeremy and Shelby Giardina, Cory Reynolds, Maggie and Hannah Whittington and Blake and Chloe Meek.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Nancy Canada and Donna Grinnell.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Stinesville Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Rudy Lee officiated. Burial followed at Cataract Cemetery.
