Putnam County Playhouse Plans Auditions For ‘Clue The Musical’

Director Ric McFadden will hold two sessions of auditions for “Clue the Musical,” the first production of the 2012 season of the Putnam County Playhouse. The first will be Sunday, April 1, at 3:00 p.m. It will be followed by a second session on Monday, April 2, at 7:00 p.m. Both sessions will be in the Rehearsal Center at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre, located at 715 South County Road 100E in Greencastle.

“Clue the Musical” will be produced June 7-9 and June 13-16.

Those auditioning should prepare a song. An accompanist will be provided. There will also be readings from the script.

The cast includes the usual suspects:

*Mr. Boddy (tenor): The host of the game, current husband of Mrs. Peacock, victim of the impending murder.

*Detective (wide vocal range): Appears in order to crack the case and solve the mystery. She rebuffs Professor Plum’s amorous advances.

*Colonel Mustard (baritone): He fancies himself a triumphant war colonel. He is implicated in the death of both of Mr. Boddy’s parents and he is currently having an affair with Mrs. Peacock.

*Mr. Green (tenor): Conartist and entrepreneur, he is a former lover of Miss Scarlet.

*Mrs. Peacock (mezzo with a belt): Black widow and chairwoman of Peacock Enterprises, married to Mr. Boddy and cheating with Colonel Mustard.

*Professor Plum (baritone): Super genius, author, intellect, imposter, his family fortune was ruined by Mr. Boddy.

*Miss Scarlet (wide vocal range with a belt): The femme fatale of the game, a former Las Vegas lounge performer, and former lover of Mr. Green.

*Mrs. White (voice range open): The chief domestic of Boddy Manor, she is virtually enslaved by Mr. Boddy.

McFadden says all roles require solo singing and singing as part of the ensemble cast. Stage ages for the characters vary, but there are no roles for children in this production.

“Clue the Musical” has a book by Peter Pietro, lyrics by Tom Chiodo, and music by Galen Blum, Wayne Barker, and Vinnie Martucci.
