Putnam County Tax Bills Mailed, First Installment Is Due May 10

Putnam County Treasurer Sharon Owens says property tax bills have been mailed and taxpayers should expect to receive their bills this week. The first installment for property tax is due Thursday, May 10th. If you wish to mail your property tax payment, please address to: Putnam County Treasurer, PO Box 508, Greencastle, IN 46135. If you would like a receipt returned to you, please enclose a self addressed stamped envelope.

Property tax may also be paid at the following banks: Old National Bank, First National Bank, North Salem State Bank, or Tri County State Bank, in order for the banks to process your payment, you must provide them with your tax statement. Payments are also welcomed in the Putnam County Treasurer’s office located on the second floor of the Putnam County Courthouse. Our office hours are Monday thru Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.

You may also make your tax payment online with a credit card or debit card at www.putnamtax.net or by calling 1-800-809-5849. There is a processing fee if you choose to use the online or phone payment option.

No credit or debit card payments are accepted in the treasurer’s office. All payments, if mailed must be postmarked by May 10th to avoid a late penalty charge.

Also a reminder to Heritage Lake property owners, if you have a May exceptional benefit payment, it is also due on Thursday, May 10th.

The courthouse and treasurer’s office will be closed on Election Day, Tuesday, May 8th.
