$30,000 In Charitable Grants Available Through Owen Community Foundation

To support the mission of the Owen County Community Foundation, the OCCF board of directors is again offering grants for charitable projects that will help our Owen County communities become better places to live, grow, and work. This year over $30,000 is available for granting. Applications are available on the OCCF website now (www.owencountycf.org) and are due back to OCCF by June 29th.

According to Marilyn Hart of the OCCF, “We know our local non-profits have many projects planned to help them meet their missions, so we really hope everyone will check out our website and consider an application. We are always available to answer questions about grants and the application process.”

Each permanent fund maintained by the OCCF (currently 50 funds) provides an annual grant to help fulfill a need in the community. Certain funds provide grants in a specified area like medical projects, fire and emergency projects, or to improve child care. But most funds are for any type of charitable project. Our community funds offer grants in particular areas of the county such as Gosport/Wayne or Harrison Township, Coal City/Jefferson Township, Cataract/Jennings Township, or in Freedom/Franklin Township.

This is the one opportunity in the calendar to take advantage of the gifts that supporters of Owen County have placed in the permanent funds at the OCCF. Since the OCCF was established in 1994 over $8 million in grants and scholarships have been distributed for local projects.

The OCCF offers a streamlined grant application that makes the process fairly simple for staff or volunteers at the various Owen County charities that will be applying for grants. Grant applications must be received at OCCF by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29. The application and instructions are available on the OCCF website (www.owencountycf.org). Applications may be sent to OCCF at P.O. Box 503, Spencer, IN 47460, or delivered to the OCCF offices, located on the second floor of the Owen County State Bank in Spencer.

Your Owen County Community Foundation is committed to help make our communities better places to live, grow and work. We value our children, we value effective, responsive leadership and a charitable spirit, and we value the beauty of Owen County. For more information, call 812-829-1725 or stop in.
