Greencastle’s ‘Wanted On Fire’ Rock Out To Win 2012 OVHS Battle Of The Bands Contest

(Staff Photo) With a total of five bands consisting of high school students from Owen Valley and Greencastle, the OVHS Band & Guard recently held another successful Battle of The Bands competition at the main entrance to Owen Valley Middle School.

The fund-raising effort netted more than $1,000 to benefit the band and guard program at OVHS, while some band mates had the pleasure of divvying up their respective cash prizes.

Finishing in first place to earn a cash prize of $250 was Greencastle’s own “Wanted On Fire,” consisting of vocalist Alex Broines, lead guitarist Justin Hartman, rhythm guitarist Derek Query, Dylan Bodnarick on bass and Nathan Pearson on drums.

A second place cash prize of $100 went to another band of OVHS students who formed “Tales Untold.” The band included lead guitarist Thomas Petry, Nate Stewart on bass and lead vocals, Jon Mobley on rhythm guitar, and drummer Jacob Smithson.

The final cash prize of $50 went to third place finisher “Red Crayons,” which was also made up of OVHS students, including vocalist and lead guitarist Michaela Head, guitarist Evan Kelly, Adam Freeman on bass, and drummer Caleb Bailey..
