15-Year-Old Struck By Boat Propeller At Lake

A 15-year-old Indianapolis boy was taken by lifeline helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following a serious boating accident. The boy was struck by the motor’s propeller, receiving several serious lacerations to his abdomen.

According to information provided by Indiana Conservation Officer Max Winchell, two 15-yearold males were on an inner tube being pulled by the boat when it suddenly turned toward them. The two boys jumped from the inner tube into the water to avoid being struck. Only one of the boys was injured. A 12-year-old male was reportedly operating the boat at the time of the incident.

The incident occurred on Cataract Lake near Cloverdale at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3.

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the incident.
