S. D. ‘Hank’ White, 92

S. D. “Hank” White S. D. “Hank” White S. D. “Hank” White, 92, Cloverdale, passed away on September 1, 2012, at his residence. He was born on August 19, 1920, in Indianapolis, and was the son of the late Charles Henry and Stella Bell [Black] White.

On April 8, 1942, he married Gertrude Marie Church and she preceded him in death on February 7, 2005, after more than 62 years of marriage.

On September 25, 2008, he was married to Beth White and she survives. He is also survived by his children, Linda Lou Hester and husband, Johnny, Sikeston, Missouri, Michael L. White and wife, Lucy, Quincy, and Steven R. White and wife, Deanne, Greencastle; his sister Velma L. Stephens, Plainfield; 7 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was a faithful member of the Cloverdale Church of Christ and a former member of the Cloverdale Lions Club.

He retired from IBM at Greencastle in 1983. He was also a licensed auctioneer. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in Central Europe, Ardennes and Rhineland during WW II.

Funeral services were held on Friday, September 7, 2012, at 11:00 AM at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, with Bro. A. J. Cox officiating. Interment was in the Mannan Cemetery with military honors.

In addition to his first wife and parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Berlin, Mary Naomi Shumaker, Laurette Berlin, and Madge Griswold; and his brothers, Melvin White and James White.
