Members of the Cloverdale School Board came together last week for their only scheduled meeting during the month of September. All members were present with the exception of Donna Fidler.

After a brief update on the facility roofing project, the board discussed the possibility of moving forward with the original mechanical package. The board voted unanimously to approve moving forward with getting bids on the mechanical package including chillers, boilers and heat exchangers.

The board members also heard from Jeff Underwood and athletic director James Wade regarding the need to upgrade the football field press box. On a motion made by Brian Asbury and seconded by Bobbi Nees, the board voted unanimously to approve the conditioning of the press box. The work will include the addition of a heat pump unit, wireless scoreboard control and a night vision security camera. The board also heard a brief technology update from Steve Ricketts.

Under new business, the board held a public hearing for the proposed 2013 budgets, capital projects plan and school bus replacement plan. With no-one choosing to comment, the board proceeded to approve.

Several other items of new business were approved, including giving CCSC Superintendent Dr. Carrie Milner approval to prepay fuel costs and the addition of a Fellowship of Christian Athletes group at the middle school.

The board discussed at lengthy professional leave, field trip and facility use requests prior to approving them. The issue at hand was the timely turning-in of those requests by the person(s) making the request. A number of cash transfer requests were also approved.
