Cloverdale Schools Recognizes Monnett, Patton & Hess As Students Of The Month

(Courtesy Photo) During a recent meeting of the Cloverdale School Board, three students from the district were honored as Students of the Month for the month of September, 2012. They are: Jeremy Hess, Malaressa Patton and Claudia Monnett.

Jeremy is the son of Isabell and Charles Hess and a fourth grade student in Mrs. Bookwalter’s class at Cloverdale Elementary. He lists his favorite subjects as math and science. He played football last year and participated in the ‘College Mentors for Kids’ (CMFK) program. He also participated in 4-H.

Mrs. Rich nominated Jeremy by stating, “Jeremy is a unique young boy. He has a great sense of humor, loves to read and plays football. Jeremy works hard, always completes tasks and does his personal best. He shows great respect to his teachers and classmates. I have enjoyed challenging Jeremy’s great mind this year. He loves to learn, grown and experience success.”

Malaressa Patton was named Student of the Month at Cloverdale Middle School. A seventh grade student and daughter of Audrey Patton, she enjoys participating in both band and choir and is a member of the cheerleading squad. Her interests include caring for animals, reading, running and jogging and watching television. In the future, Malaressa would like to pursue a career as a large animal vet.

Mr. Cole said, Malaressa is an excellent student. She consistently works to the best of her abilities and works well assisting others.

Mrs. Mann added, “As Malaressa’s track coach, I have found her to be very respectful. She always tries her best. Malaressa has tried hard to overcome obstacles in her life such as transportation. I am sure she will be a successful young lady due to her determination to do well.

The Cloverdale High School Student of the Month is senior, Claudia Monnett, Claudia is the daughter of Russell and Kelly Monnett. She lists her favorite subjects as English, art and history. Her hobbies include running, fashion and reading. Her extra-curricular activities include cross country, track, Spanish Club, National Art Honor Society and FFA. Her future plans include attending Indiana University, majoring in international business.

Ms. Boyce said, “What a phenomenal example of Student of the Month. She is a competent, reliable, remarkable young woman who represents our school through her outstanding leadership skills, academics and commitment to excellence.

Mrs. Sewell added, “I think that Claudia Monnett is one of the best students I have ever had in my 22 years as an educator! She is one of the hardest working students we have. She is committed, kind, caring, talented and beautiful both inside and out! There are just not too many students like her. She is the perfect example of the Student of the Month! We have chosen well. Congratulations to you, Claudia, and to your parents also.”
