Cloverdale Man Charged With Possessing Gun At Bus Stop

Staff Report

Henry Tillberry Jr. Henry Tillberry Jr. A Cloverdale man faces felony charges in Putnam County after allegedly attempting to board a school bus with a shotgun.

The incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, December 6 at a Cloverdale Community School Corporation bus stop.

According to a probable cause affidavit provided by the Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office, school bus driver Dennis Flory contacted Putnam County Dispatch with a report that 46-year-old Henry T. Tillberry, Jr. had started to board the CCSC bus with a shotgun.

Tillberry reportedly did not display the gun in a threatening manner and kept it at his side before leaving peacefully following a conversation with the bus driver.

Flory reportedly advised Tillberry that he could not get on the bus with the gun and told police that Tillberry wanted to discuss an earlier incident between his children and a neighbor’s children.

Tillberry also told Flo- ry, according to the probable cause affidavit, that he would like to start picking up his children at a different location due to the incident. Flory told Tillberry to not bring a gun to the bus stop again, prompting Tillberry to reportedly explain that he was forced to bring the gun to protect himself from his neighbor’s dogs.

Tillberry appeared before Putnam County Superior Court Judge Denny Bridges on Monday afternoon where he entered a plea of not guilty on charges of attempted possession of a firearm on a school bus, a Class D felony.

Tillberry was arrested on a warrant on Monday morning and later released from the Putnam County Security Center on a $10,000 cash bond. Judge Bridges granted the state’s request for a nocontact order against Tillberry for both the school and the school bus.

He is scheduled for a pretrial conference on February 13 at 8:30 a.m. If convicted, a Class D felony is punishable by six months to three years in jail and a possible fine of up to $10,000.
