Cloverdale Community School Corporation Announces January Students Of The Month

Staff Report

The Cloverdale School Board recently recognized the January “Students of the Month” for the high school, middle school and elementary school.

Elementary

Desiree Sizemore, a fourth grade student in Mrs. Crum’s class, was chosen as Student of the Month at Cloverdale Elementary. Desiree is the daughter of Skyla Sizemore. She lists her favorite subject as math.

Desiree enjoys riding her bicycle, sledding and playing with her siblings. She is a Girl Scout and is an active member of Faith Baptist Church. She aspires to be a veterinarian when she grows up.

Mrs. Crum said, “Desiree is the ideal student. She gives her complete attention to the speaker, whomever it may be. Desiree always does quality work and has it turned in on time. She is the perfect role model for every student in the building. In the classroom, in the hallway, during specials, anytime you see Desiree she is doing what is right. I have never had to call Desiree down for anything. Every time I look at her, she is looking at me. I try to teach the students the most important thing they can do in school is listen. Desiree has that down perfectly and her grades and test scores show that. I am very proud of Desiree.

She plays the trumpet in the band and is a member of student council.

Samantha loves to read and write. In her spare time she enjoys watching television, playing video games and talking with her friends. A Twenty- First Century Scholar, Samantha plans to attend Ivy Tech after high school to study nursing.

Ms. Schroeder said, “If I had a daughter I would want her to have the drive, kindness and non-judgmental attitude that Sam does. She sees the good in everyone and everything! She never gives up, stops smiling or becomes angry. I wish there were more adults like her.”

High School

Vanessa Richardson, a senior at Cloverdale High School, is Student of the Month at CHS. Vanessa is the daughter of Destry Richardson and Llona D. Skadra. She lists her favorite subjects as photography and strength and conditioning.

Vanessa’s hobbies and interests include photography, serving a president of the National Art Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, SADD, student council and Ambassadors. She plans to attend IUPUI for occupational therapy and photography after graduation.

Ms. Nees said, “It has been a great pleasure having Vanessa in my class for the last two years. She works hard and asks good questions whenever she is confused. She is the only student I have ever had who has passed up multiple field trips so she did not get behind in class. She is kind and respectful to other students and to the staff. She is an amazing young woman and I am certain that will allow her to attain great things as an adult.”
