Elementary School

Ruthie Mann, daughter of Jennifer and Chris Mann, was awarded Student of the Month honors at Cloverdale Elementary School for the month of February. Ruthie is a fourth grader in Mrs. Bookwalter’s class and lists her favorite subject as math. She is very involved in 4-H, participated in Destination Imagination, and enjoys playing basketball.

Mrs. Rich, Ruthie’s third grade teacher, nominated her by saying, “Ruthie is such a great student. She listens, works hard and follows our classroom rules. Ruthie gets along well with others and she is kind and compassionate. Ruthie is so quiet during the regular class day, but she has a great creative gift which she has been able to demonstrate through high ability novel projects and on her Destination Imagination tea. What a blessing to have Ruthie in my class, I enjoy her so!”

Middle School

The Cloverdale Middle School Student of the Month is Austin Perdue. Austin is a sixth grade student in Mr. Petty’s homeroom at CMS and the son of April Davis and Mike Garske.

Austin participates in a variety of physical activities including racing dirt bikes in competition, football and baseball. He attends church at Soul Harvest Church where he is a member of the youth group. He stated that he feels this has had a very positive influence on his life. He also credits Mrs. Jordan for her help with academics and his behavior.

When asked what people would want to know about him, Austin stated, “I have come really far in the last two years.”

He was nominated by the sixth grade teachers based on his academic performance, effort and his dedication to improvement. In the future, Austin would like to attend either IU or Purdue. He would like to go to medical school to become an anesthesiologist because ‘they make a lot of money.’

Mrs. Jones said, “He is very respectful and mindful of his shortfalls and always tries hard to turn things around for the better. Since I have worked here, I’ve seen such a big change in him and all for the better… I love this kid.”

Mrs. Mann said, “I am so proud of Austin. In the past three years he has made mature choices that have put him on a path to success. He has decided to make grades a priority. He has chosen to follow rules and respect authority. He has asked for help and stayed out of trouble. This is not the same young man that started CMS. Congrats, Austin, you deserve it!

High School

The February Student of the Month for Cloverdale High School is freshman Tanner White, son of Kelly and Rhonda White.

Tanner lists his favorite subjects and math and Spanish. His main hobby is playing music and his extracurricular activities include jazz band, winter drumline, class treasurer and student council. He plans to attend college in the future.

Mr. Rady said, “Tanner is a pleasure to have in class. He is always eager to learn and contribute to class discussions. In careers class, Tanner demonstrated a passion for music. He is very dedicated to reaching his potential in the field of music and has expressed interest in a career within the music field. With his passion and dedication, I’m confident he will have a productive and satisfying career.”

Ms. Brubeck said, “Tanner is a wonderful student, always willing to help and just a great kid overall.”
