Theta Chapter Delta Theta Tau Sorority To Hold ‘Taste Of Delts’ On March 9th

Sharon Evans Sharon Evans Theta Chapter, Delta Theta Tau Sorority, will host its first annual “Taste of Delts” on Saturday, March 9th, from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. at Greencastle Christian Church. This new fund-raising event is presented in memory of long-time Delt Sister, Sharon Evans. “Taste of Delts” will be a taste sampling of approximately 25 homemade dishes prepared and served by Delt members. Guests will also receive a booklet containing all of the featured recipes. Additional highlights of the event include a silent auction and food demos by Mary Ann Birt (“Culinary by Mary”), director of the Culinary Arts program at Area 30 Career Center.

“Cowboy Bob” Glaze, of local television fame will attend the event, along with his wife, Gail. He is also a member of the Culver rowing crew founded by Sharon’s husband, Robert Evans, over 20 years ago, and several members of that crew are also planning to attend to honor Sharon’s memory.

The silent auction will include a diverse array of items including amusement park tickets, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra tickets, sports apparel, autographed photos of Cowboy Bob, Dolly Parton, and the Indiana Fever, and several baskets full of items.

With the passing of Sharon Evans last year, Delta Theta Tau lost a dear friend, South Putnam Community Schools lost a devoted teacher, and our community lost a tireless advocate for children. To help carry on Sharon’s legacy of caring and education, a portion of the proceeds from the Taste of Delts ticket sales and silent auction will go to the Imagination Library and to the Sharon C. Evans Memorial Fund at the Putnam County Community Foundation. All proceeds will be donated to local community programs.

Tickets are $10 per person and may be purchased from any active member of Delta Theta Tau and at Eitel’s Florist and Curves in Greencastle. A limited number of seats are available.
