Beech Grove United Methodist To Celebrate 56th Anniversary

The Beech Grove United Methodist Church will celebrate the 56th anniversary, of reopening, on Sunday, March 17. Worship service will be at 11:00 a.m. with a pitch-in dinner to follow.

The history of the church will be given and special music by Stephen Sells, grandson of the minister and a Purdue student.

This church was closed for 6 years when a petition was taken around by Hila Brattain, deceased; Mary Shonkwiler, deceased; and Helen Knauer.

It was then one room with carbide lights and 2 wood stoves. Now it is 6 rooms, bath, and electric heat. Come see what it looks like now.

Pastor Steve Johnson is the minister, with his wife, Martha.

It is located in Putnam County near Parke County line in Clinton Twp, 3 miles south of 36.

Everyone is invited to help celebrate another anniversary.
