ISP Investigation Nets Local Putnam County Man’s Arrest For Molestation

Staff Report

A 21-year-old Cloverdale man remains incarcerated at the Putnam County Jail without bond following an early Saturday morning arrest by Indiana State Police on three charges of child molestation.

According to information obtained by ISP Putnamville

Post Public Information Officer Sergeant Joe Watts, ISP detectives began an investigation Friday following an alert from the Putnam County Department of Child Services concerning allegations that molestation took place at a rural Putnam County residence.

The investigation led to the Saturday morning arrest of Richard W. Stuart, 21, Cloverdale on three counts of Class A felony child molesting.

ISP Detective First Sergeant Jeff Hearon, Detective John Goldner and ISP Crime Scene Investigator Sergeant Jim Cody determined that Stuart had allegedly engaged in various sexual acts with a fiveyear old female acquaintance over the course of the last six months at a rural Putnam County residence.

Watts reminded that under law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
