(Courtesy Photo) Nearly three months after what must have been a hot and noisy ride from Poland to Brazil, ‘Booger’ the cat is enjoying his new home on rural Patricksburg Road in Owen County.

The yellow male kitten had climbed under the hood of a Poland couple’s vehicle on June 1st just before their trip to the Sunrise Restaurant in Brazil. After dinner, the couple heard a noise coming from under the car, prompting what quickly became a feline rescue of sorts.

“While I was eating my dinner, this older couple went out to leave and all of a sudden the man gets under the hood of their car and climbs onto the engine, which I thought was a bit strange,” the cat’s new owner Lewis Richardson said. “Then a couple of younger guys started to come over and crawled under the car – they were at it for about 20 minutes. What had happened was the kitty had gotten stuck between the dash and the engine.”

‘Booger’ is now enjoying a country setting at the home of Lewis and Laurel Richardson.

“They were just going to turn the kitty loose in the ally behind the restaurant and I didn’t think too much of that, so I brought him home,” Lewis noted. “I already had four cats, so now we have five.”

Lewis said ‘Booger’ has fit in nicely with his new surroundings and is doing very well, far away from automobile engines.
