OCCF To Host Scholarship Kick-Off Meeting On Saturday, September 28

OCCF Report

Your Owen County Community Foundation (OCCF) will launch the 2013-2014 scholarship season with an informational meeting on Saturday, September 28, at 10:00 a.m. in the lower level Community Room at the Owen County State Bank, 201 West Morgan Street in Spencer. High school seniors and their parents, currently enrolled college students, adults entering or returning to school, and other interested Owen County residents are encouraged to attend.

According to OCCF Administrative Director Marilyn Hart, “The application steps and deadlines for our scholarship process are important to understand. This meeting is an orientation to our electronic Pre- Application that indicates the scholarships for which students are eligible. Anyone interested in an OCCF scholarship must email a Pre-Application to OCCF by Wednesday, November 20, 2013. Scholarship Applications from high school seniors are due by Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. Applications from adults are due by Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 4:00 p.m.

“OCCF no longer has a separate application process for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. The application follows the same process as other scholarships, and three pages in the application are only to be completed by students applying for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. As in the past, applicants for this scholarship will also write a proctored essay and be interviewed.”

Scholarships are one of the great ways our OCCF donors pitch in to help support education in our community. Your OCCF offers over 50 scholarships for Owen County students working toward four-year undergraduate degrees or two-year vocational/technical degrees or certificates. All scholarship information is ready to be downloaded from OCCF’s website at www.owencountycf.org on the “Scholarships” page.

Your Owen County Community Foundation is committed to help make our communities better places to live, work and grow. The staff at your community foundation is available to answer questions, whether about applying for a scholarship or about the foundation. They are only a phone call away at 829-1725. Or you are welcome to stop by our office on the second floor of the Owen County State Bank, 201 West Morgan Street in Spencer.
