SAWs Mission Celebrates Completion Of 2013 Season

On September 22nd the SAWs Mission of the Greencastle Presbyterian Church held its fall celebration of the completion of the 2013 Calendar Year Build Season. The SAWs Mission provides handicap ramps to qualified handicapped residents of Putnam County at no cost. Even though the season will not wrap up until the end of November, the celebration, including a pitch in lunch, was held at the Greencastle Presbyterian Church. This year the SAWs Team will complete 24 projects involving ramps, handicap steps, and safety rails for the handicapped in Putnam County. By the end of November a total of 73 projects will have been completed since the program began in 2009. It is not so much the number of projects completed that is being celebrated but rather the number of the Putnam County Residents who have been helped. Each of these people has had their lives significantly changed by the improved access to their homes provided by SAWs. Not only does the SAWs work affect the handicapped but it also provides indirect help to the families and friends of the recipients of the work. Think about this; after the SAWs Team completes their work, the resident is no longer dependent upon a family member or friend to assist them in entering or leaving their homes. This is the mission of SAWs. SAWs has been providing this help to the residents of Putnam

County for five years and would like to continue doing so in 2014. The build schedule is full for this year, but beginning in late March, 2014 the work will continue. So, we are asking handicapped residents who need our help to contact the Church Office at 765-653-5713 and sign up for next year. If SAWs doesn’t help our citizens, who will?
