Thomas D. Parker, Sr., 96

Thomas D. Parker Sr., age 96, of Greencastle, formerly of Fillmore, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013.

Born April 29, 1917, in Harrison, Ohio, he was the son of Fred T. and Lena (Hoover) Parker, and was a graduate of Union Township Schools in Parke County “Class of 1936”. He married Inez A. Morlan on July 1, 1939, and she preceded him in death.

Tom had been a lifelong farmer. He had also worked at Delco Remy, in Anderson, and Bryant & Poff, in Coatesville. Tom sold vegetables and strawberries at his farm and had people drive from all over to look at his beautiful flower gardens.

He is survived by his children, Janet Ellen (Don) Snyder of Bloomington, Thomas D. (Carol) Parker Jr. of Spencer, Larry (Marilyn) Parker, of Greencastle, Mary Ann Trackwell, of Bowling Green, and Fred (Janis) Parker, of Unionville; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 11 brothers and sisters; a granddaughter, Cathy Jo Parker; and a son-in-law, Fred Trackwell.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Michael Wren officiating. Interment will follow at the Brick Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the funeral home.
