Chad Collins Ties For 28th Place In Farmers Open At Torrey Pines

(Courtesy Photo) Chad Collins continues to build on his early success on the 2014 PGA Tour, finishing tied for 28th this past weekend in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California.

Collins’ two-underpar tournament shooting was good enough for a $38,023.33 payday, bringing his season earnings to $289,197 since October 13, 2013.

The Cloverdale High School alumnus carded a 78 in the first round, followed by a 66 in the second round, a 73 in round three, and a 69 in the fourth and final round.

His 28th place finish in the Farmers Open came just one week after the best finish of his PGA career – eighth place at the Humana Challenge. Finishing at 22-under-par, Collins walked away with $176,7000. He opened play with a first round 68 and a second round 68, followed by 65s in the third and fourth rounds.

Tying with Collins for the 28th position were eight other golfers, including Justin Leonard.

The first round, played on the PGA West Nicklaus course, featured five birdies and 12 pars with one bogey, while round two play on the PGA West Palmer course featured six birdies, 11 pars and one double bogey.

In round three at the La Quinta Country Club, Collins swung for nine birdies, seven pars and two bogeys. His final round back at PGA West Palmer featured an eagle, six birdies, 10 pars and a bogey. He finished with an 84 percent driving accuracy.

For the year, Collins has made the cut in five of seven events, with one top ten finish and two finishes in the top 25. He is currently 51st in this year’s FedEx Cup standings.
