Traffic To Be Restricted Near Putnam Fairgrounds

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) says traffic on U.S. 231 will be restricted to one 11’ lane on the bridge over Big Walnut Creek just north of the Putnam County 4-H Fairgrounds beginning Tuesday, April 1. Traffic will be controlled at the bridge with a traffic signal.

Wabash Valley Asphalt was awarded the bridge deck replacement and resurfacing project on US 231 for $1.8 million. This contract will replace the deck on the Big Walnut Creek Bridge and resurface the roadway from one and a half mile north of State Road 240 to just south of U.S. 36. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers in the area the contractor will be working. Construction is scheduled for completion on October 24 of this year.

INDOT reminds motorists to follow the posted work zone speed limit, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a construction zone.
