(Staff and Courtesy Photos) Students of the month for April were honored during the recent meeting of the Cloverdale Community School Corporation Board of Directors.

Elementary

Third grade student Emma Yartz, daughter of Thomas and Stephanie Yartz, was chosen as student of the month at Cloverdale Elementary. Her favorite subject is math. Outside of school, Emma enjoys playing softball, playing with her older sister and reading chapter books.

Mrs. Puckett, Emma’s third grade teacher, nominated Emma by saying, “Emma is a dream student. She rarely misses a day of school. She comes to school each day with a smile on her face, homework in hand and ready to learn. She always has a positive attitude. She is a tiny girl with a huge heart. Emma is always kind to classmates and willing to help anyone. Emma always leads in a quiet and positive way. Mrs. Rich commented also on what a wonderful math student she is. Emma is a great thinker and lights up any room she enters.”

Middle School

The student of the month for Cloverdale Middle School is Bailey Sanders. Bailey is the daughter of Gabe and Crystal Sanders and is in the fifth grade. She lists her favorite class as language arts with Mr. Frye. She enjoys cooking, baking, arts and crafts, drawing, painting and making bracelets in her spare time. She runs track and participates in 4-H. In the future, Bailey would like to go to college and become a doctor. She wants to help people and make them feel better.

Mrs. Baugh said, “Bailey is a sweet young lady who is conscientious and hardworking. She always wants to do her best and is very helpful to her classmates.”

High School

Rebekah (Beka) Jordan, daughter of Neal and Diana Jordan, is the April student of the month for Cloverdale High School. She is a senior and lists her favorite subjects as chemistry and art. Her hobbies and interests include volleyball and softball. Her future plans are to attend college and earn a bachelor’s degree in radiology.

Ms. Nees said, “Beka Jordan is a wonderful choice for student of the month. She is always upbeat, outgoing and is definitely a leader in the senior class. There are many people that can be considered leaders. Unfortunately, many of these leaders do not lead in a positive direction. That is not Beka. She sets the example for what a student, young lady and person should be. She is hardworking and dedicated to her studies and she always comes to class prepared. She has a wonderful personality and is always respectful to everyone she comes in contact with. Beka will attain many wonderful things if she continues on the path she has up to this point in her life.”
