End-Of-Year Business Highlights Cloverdale School Board Agenda

The Cloverdale School Board met Monday evening, May 12, with six of the seven board members present.

After the approved of routine matters, including meeting minutes, claims and financial reports and board policy review, the board moved on to communications.

Mr. Dan Sulkoske approached the board with a phase II project update, noting some control issues with the HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) and a paint peeling issue in the auxiliary gym from previous projects. He advised that both issues are being addressed and are under warranty.

Work on the phase II drainage project is set to begin June 2nd with surveyors already beginning their work to locate utilities.

Rotary Club speech winner Rae McFadden was on hand to deliver her winning speech to the board, which received a loud round of applause.

Under new business, the board approved a grant donation from the Putnam County Community Foundation for early literacy preschool scholarships in the amount of $10,000.

The board moved to approve the summer band program before moving on to professional leave requests. Approved requests included:

•Beth Wernz, workshop, May 6

•Amanda Gibboney, workshop, May 6

The board also approved the following facility use requests:

•Football Player Development, Mondays and Wednesdays in June, Football Field.

•Cheer Clinic, June 7, CES Gym.

•Pole Vault Camp/ Training, July 7-18, Track & Weight Room.

•Football Player Development, July 12, Football Field.

•7-on-7 scrimmage, July 15, Football Field.

•Summer Shootout, July 19, CHS Gym.

•Green/White scrimmage, August 9, Football Field.

•Outdoor Movie & Parade, June 14, CHS Parking Lot & Football Field.

Approved field trip requests include:

•May 15, first grade to OCB. •June 6, Girls’ basketball to Monrovia.

•June 6-7, Boys’ basketball to Hanover.

•June 9, Boys’ basketball to Bloomington.

•Christian Frye – Head wrestling coach for the 2014-2015 season.

•Jessica Harrison – CMS volunteer cheer coach, 2014-2015.

•Megan Flory – CHS volunteer cheer coach, 20014-2015

The Cloverdale School Board will meet again on Monday, June 9, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Arthur L. Johnson Administration Center, located on East Logan Street.
