Stevens, Worthington To Represent CHS At IHSAA Regional At Evansville Central

IHSAA Track and Field sectional action at Terre Haute North ended on a positive note for the Cloverdale girls’ track squad last week.

The Lady Clovers will be sending two athletes to the Evansville Central Regional today, Tuesday, as they have advanced from the sectional round.

Laura Worthington was able to throw the discus 94 feet, six inches to finish second overall and advance to the regional. She was also eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:40.75.

Also advancing to the regional in Evansville is Bailee Stevens. She was third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.83 seconds.

The 4x400 relay team of Stevens, Riley Canfield, Gloria Butler, and Worthington took sixth place with a time of 4:32.47.

Harley Manion finished eight in the long jump with a distance of 13 feet, 8-1/2 inches. She was also 13th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:11.31.

Finishing seventh in the pole vault with a height of seven feet, six inches was Canfield.

In tenth place was Victoria Szalay with a time of 14:09.75 in the 3200-meter run.

Clare Plamondon was 13th in the 3,200-meter run, crossing the finish line in 14:09.75.

Butler was 16th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:57.12. Payton Dorsett also took 16th in the shot put with a throw of 25 feet, two inches.

Isabel Monnett ran the 1,600-meter event in 7:26.72 to finish 18th overall.

Natalie Stuckey competed in the discus and finished 20th with a throw of 60 feet, 9-1/2 inches. She was also 22nd in the shot put with a distance of 23 feet, 5-1/2 inches.

Cloverdale finished ninth overall with 21 points. Terre Haute North was the sectional winner with 198 points.

The regional at Evansville Central is scheduled to begin today, Tuesday, at 5:30 p.m. central time.
