Ohio Man Fatally Injured Sunday In Mishap At Lower Cataract Falls

(Staff Photo) An Ohio man was fatally injured after falling approximately 26 feet over a bluff at the Cataract Falls State Recreation Area late Sunday afternoon.

Indiana Conservation Officers continue to investigate the death of Paul Domonic DiBlasi, 67, of Galloway, Ohio. Owen County Coroner Stan Frank said DiBlasi was pronounced dead at the scene by deputy coroners Angela Frank and Lorna Dhom with a preliminary cause of death of blunt force trauma to the head.

Emergency personnel from the DNR, Owen County EMS, Owen County Rescue Team, Owen County Sheriff’s Department and Cataract Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the scene shortly after 4:15 p.m.

According to DNR reports, DiBlasi was visiting the falls with his girlfriend when he stumbled and fell over a cliff near the falls. He landed partially in the water and was initially assisted by other visitors until medical personnel arrived on the scene.
