(Staff Photo) After sitting vacant for the past seven years, the newly renovated Millgrove Store is back in business at the corner of U.S. 231N and Hardware Road under the guidance of new owner Wayne McCormick.

“It took a lot longer than I thought,” McCormick said. “We put in one new tank, a canopy over the gas pumps and we gutted the whole interior, put up new drywall, new ceilings, all new electrical and everything.”

Open seven days a week, the convenience store also houses his daughter, Nancy Welsey’s beauty salon, the relocated Main Street Salon from Gosport.

Wesley is currently taking appointments Monday evening and on Fridays, but has plans for a second stylist to take daily walk-in clients.

“We offer gasoline, diesel fuel, all kinds of convenience store items and we’ll have a restaurant in about three weeks, which will seat about 50 people,” he said. “There’s also a place to get a hair cut or perm, whatever you need. Everybody is glad (the site is) open, because they’d have to go to Spencer or Cloverdale to get things, or down to the junction (of U.S. 231N and State Road 67N) at least to get gas.” Fishing merchandise includes lures, night crawlers and red worms, with plans to add minnows and additional tackle in the future. Also being added to the store’s inventory will be novelty ice cream, propane and kerosene.

Along with gasoline and diesel fuel, the store also has ethanol-free gas for boats, lawn mowers, weed eaters and chainsaws.

The Millgrove Store is currently open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sundays. The store and beauty salon can be reached by calling 765-795-2030.
