Former Cloverdale Superintendent Hired To Fill Interim Role For S-OCS

Staff Report

Dr. Carrie Milner, who stepped down from her position as superintendent for the Cloverdale Community School Corporation (CCSC) at the end of September, has been hired to fill the superintendent’s post on an interim basis for Spencer- Owen Community Schools (S-OCS).

Ironically, Dr. Milner’s vacant CCSC post was recently filled by Greg Linton, who had served as S-OCS superintendent since late 2009.

A veteran administrator, Dr. Milner served in the CCSC district office as either an assistant superintendent, interim superintendent, or superintendent since July 1998. She came to the district in 1992 and spent seven years in the classroom before moving to the central office in ‘98 just as the new middle school was built.

Exact details of Dr. Milner’s contract were unavailable as of press time.

As for the ongoing search for a permanent replacement, school board president Tom Abrell said a committee made up of S-OCS representatives is currently working with the University Placement Committee, made up of area representatives from Ball State University, Indiana University, Purdue university, and Indiana State University.

“We have advertised the position across the state and will be reviewing applications at the end of October,” Abrell said. “We plan to conduct interviews in November and make a selection the first part of December 2014, but these plans may require adjusting as things unfold.”
