(Courtesy Photo) These winter months are not your typical months for garage sales but the “third Saturday of the month” monthly garage sales held at the Center for Women’s Ministries in Cloverdale continue year round. The Center has long been a resource for hurting women and the garage sale assists the Center in gaining needed funds to maintain their building and provide services.

Now, with the holidays quickly approaching, the women of the Center will be providing a cheery environment and a new garage sale promotion. Those who attend the sale(s) will be able to purchase a small bag of clothing for $1.00 and a larger bag for $2.00. The bags will be provided by the Center. As an added holiday feature, homemade baked goods and coffee will be available for a very nominal price, free coffee and 2 cookies for $.25. The area has a wealth of generous donors who donate quality items for the garage sale.

While the Center is not able to assist others financially, clothing and household items are donated to those in need at no cost and the Center, in turn, provides those for sale as a means of fundraising. Those without monetary resources may choose clothing for job interviews, those returning after being incarcerated are assisted with clothing needs, as well as household and clothing assistance after a fire.

The Center for Women’s Ministries has been at their location for over 16 years and is going strong. Activities at the Center are growing and outreach beyond the building are common. A grief network is available for those in need of counseling for grief recovery. The women of the Center are meeting weekly with interested women at Beyond Homeless for encouragement and guidance.

Bible studies are held on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 and evening at 6:30. New peer counseling training classes are now being formed for new volunteers. The Center is a vibrant and growing presence in Cloverdale.
