Max J. O’Hair, 83

Max J. O’Hair Max J. O’Hair Max J. O’Hair, 83, of Morton, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015.

He was born on September 2, 1931 in Morton to Marion O’Hair and Mae Keyt O’Hair.

Max attended Clinton Center High School, and graduated from Bainbridge High School.

He served his country in the U.S. Army.

Max was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church for 45 years

He retired from IBM.

Max was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Mary Lou (O’Hair) Jarrett; three brothers, Robert O’Hair, Dwight O’Hair, and Andrew O’Hair; a son-in-law, Brad Ades; and a granddaughter, Tanya Lynn O’Hair.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Sandy; five children, Cathy Clodfelter and husband John of Morton, Marion O’Hair and wife Valerie of Barnard, Robin Ades of Brownsburg, Gary O’Hair and wife Chastity of Chalmers and Lori Kirk and husband Steve of Brownsburg; a sister Elva Porter of Bainbridge; a brother, Gale O’Hair of Greencastle; his immediate family of 57 including 17 grandchildren and their spouses, 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Monday, February 9, 2015 Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, with Rev. Mindy Huffman officiating. Interment with Army Honors followed at Union Chapel Cemetery.

Max was an avid horseman, fisherman, woodsman, hunter and gardener. He was a charter member of the “Over the Hill Gang” of Horseback Riders.

He often touched the hearts of those he met, but he had a particular soft spot for children of all ages. He showed his love by meeting their physical, emotional, and /or spiritual needs. Even at the age of 83, he was the favorite playmate of many children and teens. Max was known as Dad, Granddad, Great-Granddad, Uncle Max and Mister Max by the many children who he loved to lead as they rode one of his horses, especially Ozzie.
