Chamber, Purdue Extension To Host ‘Showcase Owen County’ April 25th

The Owen County Chamber of Commerce and Purdue Extension – Owen County firmly believe in the value of supporting local businesses. In order to raise awareness and encourage others in our community to shop local first, the two organizations are planning the second annual “Showcase Owen County” event (formerly Taste of Owen County), set for Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Owen County Fairgrounds. Organizers will be expanding the event to four buildings at the fairgrounds, in addition to outdoor booths. The goal of this event is to educate community members that buying local goods and services directly impacts the local community and allows for economic growth of individual businesses and eventually, the entire county. In preparation for this event, organizers are asking any local businesses or organizations that would like to set up a booth to contact them for more information.

“We are looking for locally owned or operated businesses that are interested in showcasing their goods and services to the fine folks of ‘Sweet’ Owen,” noted Brandi Langley, OCCC/EDC Executive Assistant.

Individuals setting up a booth may choose to provide samples of their goods, give coupons, sell products, or just raise awareness about their organization through marketing and promotional tools.

“We are asking that businesses and organizations contact us and reserve their spot as soon as possible,” Langley added.

The cost per booth is $25 for businesses; non-profit organizations will pay $15, and civic organizations will not be charged. Each booth includes a table and two chairs. Electric is available on a first come first served basis.

To find out more about this event or to reserve your booth, contact the Owen County Chamber of Commerce at 812-829-3245 or the Purdue Extension – Owen County Office at 812- 829-5020.
