Cloverdale Man Dies From Injuries Sustained In Early Morning Crash

A 21-year-old Cloverdale man passed away Monday from injuries sustained when his late 1990s pickup truck struck a utility pole along State Road 243 in northwestern Owen County. The crash was reported to Owen County Security Center Dispatch at 12:16 a.m. (Photos Courtesy of OCSD) A 21-year-old Cloverdale man passed away Monday afternoon, May 18 at Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis from injuries he sustained in a single vehicle crash in northwestern Owen County.

According to authorities, Justin Grever’s green 1997 Chevrolet S-10 collided into and severed a South Central Indiana REMC utility pole around 12:00 a.m. on Monday in rural Jackson Township.

Emergency personnel from the Owen County EMS and Rescue Team, Poland Community and Cloverdale Township volunteer fire departments, along with the Owen County Sheriff’s Department, Cloverdale Police Department, and Indiana State Police were dispatched to the scene at 12:16 a.m.

Grever needed to be extricated from the wreckage before being transported by an EMS unit to a landing zone established at the intersection of state roads 42 and 243. He was airlifted by an AirEvac Lifeteam helicopter to Eskenazi Health.

The crash remains under investigation by the Owen County Sheriff ’s Department.
