Brackin, 53, of Poland, was fatally injured in a single-vehicle crash late Tuesday morning on Owl Hollow Road. The crash remains under investigation by the OCSD. (Staff Photo) A Poland man was fatally injured May 26th in a single vehicle crash on rural Owl Hollow Road, just south of Wasatch Lake Road. A passerby placed a 911 call to Owen County Security Center dispatch just after 10:30 a.m., reporting a wrecked vehicle off of the roadway and a man laying in the roadway.

Emergency personnel from the Owen County EMS and Owen County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD), along with Indiana State Police Senior Trooper Ryan White responded to the scene just after 10:50 p.m.

The driver, identified as 53-year-old Mark D. Brackin, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Owen County Coroner’s Office.

Tire tracks and skid marks at the scene led authorities to believe Brackin had been southbound when his Toyota Celica left the west side of the roadway and struck a small embankment, sending the vehicle airborne before rolling multiple times. Brackin was ejected from the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation by the OCSD.
