The Cloverdale Community School Corporation (CCSC) Board of Trustees convened for the final time prior to the start of classes for the 2015-2016 school year on Monday, July 20. All eight board members were present.

After the organization of the meeting, the board moved to approve meeting minutes for regular and executive sessions on June 8 and June 30, as well as claims and financial reports.

Next, the board heard from corporation building project manager Dan Sulkoske with a project update. He noted that $1,000,000 had been budgeted for asphalt and drainage with a contract approved for roughly $890,000. The crew had begun saw cutting and moving forward with the project Monday before the rain began. The middle school roof, budgeted at $170,000, received a bid of $72,5000. Sulkoske noted that the amount of rainfall was delaying all outside work, including the roof project. He also explained that the PA system upgrade in the high school gymnasium was complete and they were currently obtaining proposals for the bus lot fence and camera upgrades. It was announced that the gym floor was being resurfaced and it was most likely going to come out close to the $20,000 mark as opposed to the $16,000 budgeted for the job.

Superintendent Greg Linton next gave the 2015- 2106 bus inspection report, saying, “We did have 100-percent of our busses pass inspection this year. We had a couple of very minor issues that we were able to fix on-site prior to the (Indiana State Police) trooper leaving.”

A registration update was given, announcing August 3rd as the new student registration and orientation. All three buildings will be open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Registration for returning students will be held on August 4th from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and again from 5-7 p.m.

Under new business, the board approved the 2016 budget adoption schedule as well as the annual financial report, textbook rental fees, coordinator employment agreements, school bus drivers’ employment agreements, professional leave requests, field trip requests and transfer-ins. It was noted that textbook rental fees for most grade levels decreased this year.

In the final business of the night, several personnel items were approved, including the hiring of new football coach Tony Meyer, CHS math teacher Donovan Jones and CMS/ CHS agriculture teacher and FFA advisor Morgan Conder.

Coach Meyer is the assistant baseball coach for Cloverdale High School. He is a native of Putnam County and the brother of Greencastle varsity football coach Mike Meyer.

Other personnel items approved included: Recall

•Megan Puckett, CES teacher. Resignation

•Sarah Gore, CES teacher.

•Stacy Artis, CHS media center and technology.

•Jarrod Duff, CHS varsity football, baseball and strength/conditioning coach.

Johnson Administration Building, located on East Logan Street in Cloverdale. This meeting is open to the public.
