Owen SWCD To Host Local Working Group Meeting On September 15th

The Owen County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), on behalf of the United States Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resource Conservation Service, will host a public Local Working Group Meeting on Tuesday, September 15, at 6:00 p.m. at the SWCD Office, located at 743 East Franklin Street, Suite C, in Spencer.

The purpose of the Local Work Group Meeting is to discuss and rank Owen County’s top natural resource concerns. The results of the meeting will prepare the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) for the fiscal year 2016 Farm Bill conservation programs implementation. The Local Working Group sets the local priorities and provides recommendations to the District Conservation and State Conservationist on local natural resource priorities and criteria for conservation activities and programs.

During the meeting, the local work group will discuss how well Indiana’s current technical information and programs address the local resource concerns. A survey will be available for attendees to complete so the input from the meeting can be provided to the Indiana State Technical Committee.

All are welcome to join the SWCD and NRCS at this meeting. Come learn more about the role of the Local Work Group and to share your expertise of Owen County’s agricultural and natural resource concerns. The meeting will conclude by 7:00 p.m.
