Putnam County Man Admits To Public Indecency Charge; Sentenced Tuesday

Staff Report

Bruce W. Schlehuser, 59, of Putnamville, appeared in the Owen Circuit Court I on Tuesday, September 1 for a sentencing hearing in front of Judge Lori Thatcher Quillen for the offense of public indecency, a class A misdemeanor. Schlehuser was charged with the offense following an investigation conducted by Detective Larry Sanders of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed by Detective Sanders, as he was looking for Schlehuser for an incident in Morgan County near Eminence High School, he received a similar report from the Owen County Sheriff’s Department of a man exposing himself to a woman on Millgrove Road in northern Owen County. The victim reported to Detective Sanders that as she was walking down Millgrove Road she encountered Schlehuser in a yellow convertible sports car on the side of the road and he asked her if “she wanted to party?” She advised that Schlehuser exited his car, completely naked except for a pair of tennis shoes.

According to Owen County Prosecuting Attorney Don VanDerMoere, Schlehuser was sentenced to 365 days at the Owen County Jail with all but time served suspended to probation (running consecutive to 55D01-1408-F5-1236). The defendant is ordered to attend and complete counseling and perform 56 hours of community service.
